Project Details:
The Hitchcock Center Tea House in Amherst, MA is a serene, hand‑crafted structure that embodies the principles of simplicity, sustainability, and connection to place. Completed in 2021, this project was designed as a peaceful retreat within the natural landscape — a space that invites reflection and community gathering.
Built with locally sourced Black Locust, White Oak, and Cedar, the Tea House showcases the warmth and durability of native hardwoods. Each timber was carefully selected for strength and character, celebrating the beauty of natural materials while ensuring long‑lasting performance. The Bluestone floor and foundation elements ground the structure in its surroundings, adding texture and timeless elegance.
This project reflects Yeoman Design Build’s dedication to craftsmanship, sustainable sourcing, and the art of building in harmony with nature — a perfect balance of form, function, and environmental respect.
