Project Details:
The Vävstuga: Shop and Studio in Shelburne, MA is a celebration of local craftsmanship, sustainable design, and thoughtful construction. Completed in 2025, this project was built with a commitment to environmentally conscious practices and regional materials — reflecting Yeoman Design Build’s dedication to quality and sustainability.
Approximately 80% of the lumber was milled directly from pine trees harvested on site, reducing transportation impact and creating a true connection between the building and its surroundings. The structure features locally sourced wood, Goshen stone, and a durable metal roof, combining natural beauty with long-lasting performance.
To enhance energy efficiency and comfort, the building incorporates cellulose insulation and Glavel (foam glass) sub-slab insulation, both of which offer excellent thermal performance and sustainability. The result is a workspace that is durable, efficient, and deeply rooted in the local landscape — a perfect blend of traditional building wisdom and modern environmental responsibility.
